Accessibility
statement.

Good reading should make room for more people, not fewer.

Last updated

Accessibility is part of the editorial work.

Very Human Beings™ uses WCAG 2.2 AA as its working standard. We are building an editorial site that is usable with a keyboard, understandable without a particular device, and comfortable to read at different sizes and speeds. The site is not finished, and neither is the work of improving it.

What is in place now

  • Semantic headings, landmarks and a skip-to-content link.
  • Keyboard navigation with visible focus states.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Responsive layouts that work on small screens and do not depend on fixed image crops for mobile reading.
  • Motion that can be reduced through a visitor’s system preference.
  • Plain-language policy pages and readable, content-first article markup.

What we keep checking

We review new pages for heading order, link purpose, image descriptions, focus order, mobile reflow and contrast. Some source material and external links originate elsewhere; their accessibility may be outside our control, but we will avoid treating that as an excuse for the parts we do control.

Tell us when something gets in the way

If a page is hard to use, an image description is missing, or you need a different format, email lex@lexartia.com. Please include the page address and what happened if you can. You may also use @veryhumanbeings.insta on Instagram, but email is the direct no-account route.

The practical version: access is not a bonus feature. If reading the site is harder than it should be, we want to know.
